If it has been spinning for two years or more, and you are at it and want to clean it, you might as well replace it. ![]() In worst case you will have to replace the motherboard as well, if it is damaged as well, or it is the one damaged and not the CPU. But if the CPU is damaged due to static electricity then you can try replacing it. You may have touched it with the plastic nozzle attachment whilst it was statically charged, which could have caused a small electrical charge to jump onto the motherboard. From the looks of it that laptop's motherboard is directly accessible when the fan is exposed. Using a vacuum cleaner is known to cause static electricity that can damage sensitive electronics. ![]() How did you clean it and with what? Suck or blow? Not sponge, soap and water I hope?.
